Jim Thorpe, PA May 16th-20th 2010
Nestled in the mountains near the Lehigh Gorge, the town of Jim Thorpe has been called "little Switzerland." Situated on a steep hillside, overlooking the Lehigh River, this town seems lost in another time.
Our host hotel in this historic village is the Inn at Jim Thorpe on Broadway, the main street. Our Spring Break for Women will include walking, downhill biking along the Lehigh River, a history tour, ghost tour, hiking along a spectacular bluff while observing a massive reclamation project in bloom, touring the Asa Packer Mansion, home to the founder of the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company as well as Lehigh University, and the jail where the infamous Molly McGuires were hung.( Sean Connery starred in the movie, filmed here.) There's much to explore and experience. Originally called Mauch Chunk, the town changed its name to Jim Thorpe when the remains of the world famous Olympian and Native American were buried here. This little town is now in the national news as his son's file papers to try and get their father's remains put to rest in Oklahoma, where he was born.
You'll have time to mosey through the art galleries, antique shops, bookstores and craft and clothing stores along Broadway, and have dinner at the fabulous farm to table FLOW restaurant while the owner gives us a tour of his remarkable art gallery.
On another night we'll have excellent TexMex at Pepperjacks and check out the music scene at the Mauch Chunk Opera House or Penns Peak.
This Sunday to Thursday tour for women only is a time to refresh and rejuvenate in good company. Bring a friend, a sibling, daughter or Mom and enjoy invigorating walks and hikes surrounding this victorian treasure of a town.

Price $1109 pp double occupancy and $1149 single occupancy Includes four nights at the Jim Thorpe Inn, including tax and gratuities, 4 dinners, 4 breakfasts, tour guides, bicycle rental and transport, transportation during the tour and any museum fees, plus 1 picnic lunch.
Does not include Opera or Penns Peak tickets as tickets are not available till Spring.
